The Royal Caribbean Cruise line has a ship named the Oasis of the Seas. For the last week Kathy and I have been two of the pampered guest on this magnificent work of man made steel. You have to wonder how the thing floats on the water... it is huge. 17 stories tall with over 7000 people on board. it is amazing. The crew does everything for you and they seek only to entertain you.
I am not used to such a trip. Usually I work when I travel. I help cook and wash dishes as well as make up my own bed. Not in this place. Kathy and I planned this trip when I left Piney Grove for us to relax and reconnect with each other. A time to focus on each other and take that vacation we had not taken in many years. WE ate the food that seemed to be everywhere, we relaxed, but mostly we just were with each other and more importantly we spent the time to seek the face of God. He was with us, and He has truly blessed both of us.
God is leading me to continue into law enforcement chaplaincy in an even greater way than ever before. On the cruise I had the opportunity to share Christ with three law enforcement officers. One from Michigan, a detective, one form Homeland Security, and another from the Philippines who was on of the mandated officers on the ship. Their backgrounds were different but they all had one thing in common, their need for Jesus Christ.
God is leading me to this ministry of which I see only one way to be able to do it. I must seek funding from people who have believed and supported me in ministry in the past.. So over the next few weeks I am going to be seeking ways to raise ongoing monthly or quarterly support to enable me to spend as much time as possible in the area of working with Law Enforcement to minister in this very specialized area of life. I have an opening that is very real and unique to access and disciple officers and their families. The thing that is needed to accomplish the task is not so much massive amounts of money but time. I need to spend my time with them. I cannot do this if I work another job. But praise God I have a position because of one of my board of directores that I can take off to be with officers as needed. When the support I receive is increased I will be able to spend more time with offivers. This is what I will be seeking to develop over the next few weeks and months. Will I be doing this full time? If the Lord so wills and support comes I will be.
I ask you to consider if you might be led of the Lord to support this ministry of Mission Team Inc? I assure you that we are far more about the average doughnuts that an officer most people eat than trying to eat Royal Chocolate Cake of the cruise ships. But I will need support to be in this ministry full time.
I want to thank all of you who have supported MTI over the last four and a half years to keep it going. We have some funds still, but not enough for me to step out today and go "full time" in Law Enforcement Ministry. But I am ready to do this and God is opening the doors, but I will need your help. Please pray about what you may be able to do to support your local police with a person who will be there when they run into trouble and need to be pointed back to God.
Visit the MTI Website to see how you could give monthly online or plan regular gifts that can be sent to Mission Team Inc, PO Box 801302, Acworth GA 30101. Your support will enable me to return to full time ministry dedicated to the men and women in Law Enforcement.
WE are glad to be home. I will be doing electrical work today. But my heart would be speaking to be with an officer about Jesus and the need in their life that the Lord could meet. I will not do this today but I hope to be soon. I am not sure if we would ever go on a cruise again. Oh it was nice but I would rather be at work for the Lord. I would rather be sharing the front seat of a patrol car to speak to the driver. I would rather eat a doughnut than Royal Chocolate cake.
