I love Mike Stephens, my pastor, and if you know him he is a nut and actually kind of hard to pull something over on. Yet he loves a good joke. Of course if you know him you also know he just had his aorta valve repaced just like Kathy did. It is kind or eerie that we have so much in common. We live next door to Mike and Betty. Mike and I are both in the ministry, we have very subdued personalities, we both love dogs, both have a daughter named Brittany, and a biggie, we both got married on the same day Aug 3, 1974. Many can remember a time when Mike and I both were on strong doses of Prednisone back in 2000. We were both dealing with illness that were skin related. Now for both Kathy and Mike to have the same congenital birth defect of a bicuspid aorta valve might not be too unusual, but to need and have surgery three weeks to the day apart is getting eerie.
Here is the part of getting a joke on Mike. Mike came to the hospital and we are so grateful that only three weeks after surgery, he is visiting us, and we are laughing about his "PIG" valve and the cravings for BBQ. Many jokes realated to his new tissue valve. My favorite I am telling is since Kathy is getting the same I hope she is bacon flavored with I kiss her, if you know Mike you know how the jokes were flying in my home away from home the Waiting room.
Mike reaches in his wallet and produces his card to show me that now he now carries a card to tell any medical personal about his valve in the event of an emergency. There are limits on the amount of Radation in and x-ray of the chest. When he produces the card it says right on it BOVINE TISSUE. The joke is on Mike as He does not have a pig valve: It is A COW. Mike HAD A COW Literally - Now we can say with a great truth that Mike is full of Bull. Well at least a little bit. I teased Mike that he would soon be applying for the job at Chick-fil-a in the cow costume to protect his own Kind-- Eat more Chikin has new meaning for the pastor.
I thought Mike was going to laugh so hard he would bust open. We ask our surgeon (yes Kathy and Mike have the same Cardiologist and surgeon and hospital) and he said yes the Tissue are from a Bovine (cattle).
Well, we are praising the Lord for both Kathy and Mike's success in surgery and we will go back to our blessed lives out on the hill behind the Christian School. The Lord owns the Cattle on a thousand hills also has new meaning as we are thankful for Mike and Kathy coming through the surgery with cow parts.

You're such a great writer! Thanks for the laughs and for the updates on Kathy. We miss her and her sweet smile - give her a hug for me!

Praising the Lord with you both for regular room and good sleep(soon it will be wonderful sleep as Kathy will be home in her own surroundings and own bed). Thanking the Lord for her progress and keeping you both in prayers and thoughts. Loved the story of Pastor Mike, good to know that the old Moo Moo's are contributors of something besides skimmed milk, "GOT A VALVE?" Love and hugs to Kathy and post when you can,it is wonderful.
Blessings dear friends,
