Ahhh! Sunshine At Last on a Saturday

What a beautiful day. Kathy, Bradley and Leslie and I went to Yellow River Game Ranch this morning to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and see the animals. All of us took alot of photos and this guy was just enjoying the sunshine on the side of a huge Hickory Tree. The afternoon however was back to work to get the house ready to paint. What a great Day Thank you Lord.

Days When Things Don't Go Right.

Some days are just not as good as others. Some days are prone to go bad. There are difficulties and then more trouble on top of that. I know that all of you have had a day like that from time to time. I know that the Lord knows we will have these kind of days. Every day with God is the same. He is always all powerful, He is always in control, He is always knowing all things, He is forever God Almighty. All of theses things are true about Him all of the time.

We on the other hand are in His image and we just think those same things part of the time. How wrong we are as those things are never true about us. However there is on thing that is true all of the time about us...We are loved by Him the same all of the time. His grace is abounding and He loves us no matter if we are foolish enough to think we are all knowing. What a joy to realize that even when we have a bad day God is still there doing for us, providing for us, and certainly loving us. So here are a few verses for the difficult days.

 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
      8 Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things. 9 Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.  Phil 4:4-9 (HCSB)

A Joy to Share

I consider it one of the greatest privileges in my life to serve as a Chaplain in the Cobb County Police Department as a Chaplain. Serving God first and then serving men and women who serve the public. Several years ago I was riding with and officer when the subject came up of being involved in a shooting. The officer had some real concerns as he had in the line of duty had to shoot a man who was out of control wielding a large knife and coming to kill him and the relative of the man who stood behind the officer. He shot the man once and the man was dead. I began to share the truth of scripture found in Romans 13:1-7 and Biblical priciples I knew of the top of my head that would help this fine officer. I cannot express how different he seemed after I shared the scripture with him. A burden was lifted and he thanked me many times and kept repeating no one ever told me that... no one ever told me. This event sparked a thought in me that led to my Doctor of Minstry project at Southeastern Seminary being directed in this area to give an encouragement to officers who were involved in the use of deadly force. The final aspect of completion was of course graduation but there was a few more things to do. The photo is one of those things. I had the opportunity to present to The Chief of Police In Cobb County George Hatfield a copy of the completed work. It has a very long title as all Doctor of Ministry projects do. An Inquiry into the Spiriitual Benefit of Biblical Counseling for Law Enforcement Officers Who have Employed Deadly Force is the Title of the finished project. Over 60 officers were surveyed and 18 officers were actually counseled in the work. I believe with a great benefit to all of them and to their families. Pray for this work as I continue to develop and refine the work to be in a more pratical and eaisly read form to be distributed to officers who are involved in shooting scenarios. A Big Thank you to all who had a part in the work and my completion of the project.
