WOW! So many of you guys know me and often I get comments about being busy and on the move. This week has been one to remember and it is not over yet. Let me just give you the last few days....
Wednesday...Funeral services for Freddie Norman. A Cobb County Police officer who 21 years ago was tragically injured in an on duty accident that left him in a wheel chair with permanent brain stem damage. Freddie died suddenly last Saturday and Wednesday was his funeral. I was asked to be a part of his service. What a spirit Freddie had to keep fighting and struggling to make life all that it could be. He impacted his family in a powerful way. He knew the Lord and I am confident that he is now with the Lord. What a privilege to honor Freddie and be a part of the Cobb Police Department by serving as a Chaplain.
Thursday... In serving with the Noonday Baptist Association I am now responsible for much of the Builders for Christ project that happens ever year. The project this year is in Monroe Ohio. The project really kicks off things with a covered dish event to give information get together and really pump up the spirits of everyone. This great event was Thrusday night. The food was good and the project is sound thanks to the work of alot of people. But the event Thrusday was a true blessing as I had the opportunity to speak to and challenge this veteran group of Short Term Mission Volunteers to be on task. I am humbled at the experiance and commitment of these people.
Friday...Mission Team Inc is of course the agency that God has allowed us to start and grow to a point that I believe we are impacting lives. We hold an annual celeberation banquet each year to thank our supporters and give information on the progress of the ministry. Needless to say a lot of work goes into getting ready to prepare and present this time of celebration. What a privilege God has given me to be in this ministry and to have such good supporters. Kathy and I are blessed and to be active in so many people's lives is again humbling and a huge responsiblity that I am in awe of God realizing that He is making it happen.
Saturday...I am giving the invocation at a prayer breakfast this morning for the Color of Public Saftey. I have been asked by one of our Dept Lieutenants to be a part. What a honor and privilege to be asked to a high profile event such as this to pray. I always jokingly give the response to folks at events where they call on preacher or chaplain to pray that they give me the easy jobs. But in reality leading corporate pray is very difficult. I know my own heart and it is not always clean. I must pray fervently prior to leading a corporate or public prayer to seek not to glorify self or others but only to glorify God. What a privilge it is to pray.
Sunday...Bethany Christian Church in Dallas GA is giving me and MTI the opportunity to come in and lead them to a new place in ministry. They want to be Hands on in Missions. They have asked me to come address all in the chruch who are willing in a 2 hour seminar this Sunday to kick start the process. These are godly people and they have a great pastor and staff who are excited and ready to get going in short term missions. What a privilige to guide them and encourage them. WoW.
It is a busy time It has taken a few minutes to type it all up. God is the one to be praised for the privilege He gives us to rise in the morning and be on task for Him. Thank you Lord!
And by the way the Cat is doing fine...he is behaving himself...so far...
