Stepping on the scales a couple of nights ago I found that the scales must have been tampered with by some person with a vicious sense of humor. I kept on pushing the little weight on the top further and further to the right and the arm would not move. When It finally did and I read the number I was certain that some joke was being played on me. Sadly however there is no joke and the stark reality that I am heavier than I have ever been sank in. So what is the next step. The Fat Farm? Bigger pants? Yogert? UGH!!
After a little thought and a lot of prayer. Two things are for sure. EAT LESS. and EXERCISE. You hear this all the time but it is hard to do. So I am making a commitment (public at this point) to do both. There is an upcoming road race the annual RUN for THE SON sponsored by Burnt Hickory Baptist is coming up at the end of the month and I am commiting myself to run in it. Granted it will be in the Clydesdale Group which is for 200+ pounders.
This is going to be tough to do even as I type I can hear the Oreos calling my name from the pantry. But my determination is real and I will leave the keyboard not to go to the kitchen but to hit the road for a good long jog. I will try to keep you posted on how it is going.

You go, Scotty! Long time no see--we'll have to catch up sometime. In the meantime, we'll be praying for you as you start cleaning up the temple...
