Isaiah 49:6 tells the prophet he is to be a light to the nations, and so should each of us that know the grace of the Lord. This is indeed the greater task to which we should aspire. Isaiah was shortsighted and thought he was only a minister to the Hebrews but God said that task was ...Too Small A Thing... and that He would be a witness to the enitre earth. And so he wrote a book we read 2700 years later.

Honor and Humility

The Early Morning Honor and humility are the main two thoughts I have today as I think about all who have made my freedom possible. Thank you to all who serve does not seem adequate but to not say thank you is to be smug and non caring. I am proud of my country and proud of the fact that this is without a doubt the greatest country on the face of the earth today. God Bless all of you who serve our military and all of you families who have given a loved one to the cause of freedom. Today we honor you.I do so with a real sense of humility.

This video will stir your heart. I am Already There

Concordia Seminary

Tower-quad I am in the middle of the country (St Louis) in the middle of a group of Lutherans who I am finding to be a great bunch of people. I am at the Christian Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Theology and Practice Conference. The fellowship is great and the food has been good. The training is like no other I have ever had. I am so privileged to serve the men and women of our law enforcement and to get good training is a real blessing. The campus here at Concordia Seminary is beautiful. I wish I had more time to write but the schedule for the conference has been very demanding. God Bless all you who support MTI and the work I am privilged to be a part of I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you for giving me this opportunityI.LoeberI am staying in Loeber Hall here at the bottom of the page. I will be getting Homeland Security training on Thrusday and Friday for Critical Incident First Responder Credentials This is a big responsibility I covet your prayers for learning and the ability to be prepared for any future emergencies.

Mom's Reward

I preached on Rewards today. I used a passage from the book of Ruth. The end of the book is all about Naomi who sat with a grandchild on her lap thankful and full of praise because of the child which Ruth bore has given her a sense of purpose This child she feels is a reward.. Obviously written sometime later the author of the book gives us the linage of the child that will include King David as a grandson or a great great grandson of Naomi. Rewards some times take a while but they do come. I used theme in the sermon but I talked about in my own life how God has blessed and I have been rewarded in life.  IKathy and I have been faithful (If you call being a constant sinner faithful.)  I have realized that it is not about how much I can do not to sin, it is all about how much I will seek His forgiveness, and be willing to be used, The He will always be faithful to us. Not only have I been rewarded with wonderful children, but I have a true and faithful wife who is mother of these gifts from God. I am blessed. I think she feels the same and so as I talk about my reward I realize my reward is shared and she has the same. God is so good to make the best things shared.

Cool in the POOL

Baron Well we have made the big commitment to purchase a pool. Not one in the ground we are true rednecks at heart so we have one of those new fangled above ground cement ponds. But it is really a steel and Resin core post and plastic liner pool. We have struck a deal with a guy and we will have it here by the end of the week.
Brittany is excited an we will have a good time with it I am sure. It is relatively inexpensive and less than what a decent vacation would be but it will last a lot longer. There is a lot of up keep and so I will have to get ready for that but I will hopefully have some help and will seek some from my fellow swimmers. It is a 24' diameter pool and it is 4' deep all around.   We will have a pool party in few weeks so plan on coming and bring the steaks.

If you Liked Facing the Giants

The Kendrick boys or better known as Sherwood Productions are at it again down in Albany. The producers of Facing the Giants are producing a new movie called Fireproof. By what the trailer looks like it will be another hit. You can go to this link and check out the trailer....

   FIREPROOF

Most of you do not know that the Kendrick family grew up in the house behind us and we went to the same church.  Larry Kendrick is the reason that Kathy and I got back in church regular back in 1982. We had not been in Sunday School in a while and Larry was always kind to ask us to come. He was always a friendly voice across my back fence, He was living out the life of serving God and by his encouragement I came back to regular church attendance and Sunday School. Thanks Larry.
